It was not unusual to have a simulated "gem" (a material that looks like a natural gem) used in gold jewelry back in the early 1900's. This lavalier has a simulated purple gemstone with a natural pearl set in 10kt yellow gold. There's pretty engraved detailing on this lavalier too! Circa 1910. Chain available separately.
